Work Placement is a mandatory part of your Vocational Education & Training (VET) course. Work placement is extremely different from work experience in that you are more than just an observer. As a work placement student you are completing specific tasks relevant to competencies you are studying and you bring your new skills to the workplace.
Work Placement is an opportunity for you to go out and experience what the workplace is all about. You should complete 35 hours of Work Placement in Year 11 and 35 hours in Year 12 (a total of 70 hours or 2 weeks). It is a Board of Studies requirement that you complete Work Placement in order to gain your HSC units.
Below you will find all the information about your roles and responsibilities, benefits to you and documentation you need for before, during and after your work placement.
